Clinics & Services

All GP practices are contracted to provide "essential services", that is, basic treatment of ill people. We also provide the following "additional services":

• Child health surveillance, together with the health visiting team.
• Contraceptive services (specialist services such as IUCD insertion are available at any Family Planning Clinic).

We also hold contracts with GG+C NHS for the following “enhanced services”:

• Regular monitoring, by blood and urine tests, for patients on a range of drugs for arthritis and bowel problems.
• Annual comprehensive reviews for patients with heart disease, diabetes, asthma and COPD.
• A methadone substitution programme for patients with drug abuse problems.

Travel Vaccinations

In line with the vaccination transformation programme general practice will no longer be required to provide travel health services from 1^st April 2022.

Patients can access information on what vaccinations are required, together with malarial and safe travel advice at Fit for Travel. The website allows you to select their destination and then view the requirements for the destination before contacting the providers on the board website.

Four Travel Vaccines are available on the NHS (Typhoid, Hepatitis A, DPT and Cholera) at no direct cost to the patient.  Any other vaccinations will incur a cost to the patient as at present.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV, elderly etc.)
• Insurance claim forms
• Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
• Private sick notes
• Vaccination certificates
• Reports for solicitors

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
